2022: Superhero’s!
WE’RE BACK FOR 2022 BUFFALO!
The new theme for this year will be Superheroes! and we have moved to an earlier date: Saturday, August 6th & Sunday, August 7th from 12pm – 6PM.
ChalkFest Buffalo! is a free annual event in the heart of Downtown Buffalo. For years it was hosted by the 500 Block of Main Street Association, and we are forever grateful to them for helping us make this dream a reality. In 2018 we almost were not able to continue the event. But the folks at Buffalo RiverWorks heard about our troubles and offered to step in and not only save the Chalkfest, but add to it in some amazing ways!
This Aug 6th & 7th the event will be both inside and outside of the GLF grain silos at Buffalo RiverWorks! Outside on the blacktop artists will be able to draw their creations then ZIP LINE over top of them or see them from the top of the Ferris Wheel!
Inside the grain elevators & silos gives artists a smooth concrete canvas that is protected from the elements of weather. It also gives artists the ability to draw not just on the ground, but on the walls of the historic silos. This is not just a unique opportunity for artists, but a uniquely Buffalo opportunity as the historic grain elevators were invented here and have largely gone abandoned for the past few decades.
ChalkFest Buffalo! not only provides a variety of activities for adults and children but also gives local artists the chance to win cash prizes and show off their gallery worthy artwork. . We hope to have some world-renowned 3-D chalk artists present and will update everyone as it unfolds.

What time can artist come to start drawing?
9am for future reference
Hi! I was there last year and would like to reserve a space to sell my paintings. I was set up by the stage last year. If I could get that again, I would truly appreciate it. Thank you!!!

Where should spectators park?
There is on site parking, for future reference
Is it dog friendly? I have a small dog I’d like to bring with me.
For future reference, no RiverWorks is not dog friendly. Sorry about that..
Stopped by today. This was great for families! Traveled with our grandma and 2 y/o daughter.
What if any Restrictions are in place due to covid?
If you are vaccinated you do not need to wear a mask, if you are not you will need to wear a mask. Those are the only restrictions.
How much is the entrance fee for a beginner chalk artist?
Chalkfest is always FREE for artists of any skill level
Is there an age limit for the participating artists? And I’d a minor is participating, does the adult fill out the form in their name w/the adult’s contact information?
Yes the parent can fill out the info for the person participating. There is no age limit.
Are the vendors all outdoor?
They are all inside
